Part

A part is an element of a product relevant for a bill-of material.

Remark:

A real part is normally unambiguously identified by its Part_number and Company_name. In the KBL, the actual classification of a Part (e.g. Accessory, Connector_housing) defines how the Part can be used in the Harness (in the KBL). However, in reality there are parts that have multiple uses (e.g. a tape can be used as Wire_protection or as Accessory). Therefore it is allowed to have multiple instances of the KBL Classification Part with the same Part_number, Company_name in a single KBL file, if all have different concrete classifications. This is not a violation of the constraint for uniqueness of part number, since all KBL Parts are referencing the same single real part.
